It’s been funny watching the theories on BBI unravel. First it was that only Nyanza supports BBI, then that Baringo’s defiance will “inspire” other counties, then that MCAs wouldn’t pass it fearing they’ll be voted out… Now the last one is that BBI will be shot down by popular vote. The idea is that the 2005 referendum failed and so will this one. Seems people are yet to realize that Uhuru is a very different animal from Kibaki.
“Kwa ground vitu ni different” is going to take on a different meaning over the next year.

It is not Kalenjins that have been most vocal about supporting Ruto and dismissing BBI, it is the central Kenya brigade. We expected them to oppose the bill and support their master.

The “grant” that MCAs were given seems to be working.
The promise of additional seats and ward development fund is too enticing to our MCAs.
The same promise will be made to mwananchi during referendum. Already pale navakholo the prospect of batsotso getting their own constituency independent of the banyala wa ndombi is already too attractive…for once they will have one of their ‘own’ in parliament.
