You know, sometimes I get a notification from an old thread and I honestly cannot believe it. I get so ashamed that I use my hands as a shield so as not to see the stupid stuff I used to write. I am convinced that I was demon possessed when I did some of the stuff I used to do.
You see, when you don’t study Scripture, you become completely oblivious to the fact that you are sinning, same way a fish is never aware that it’s wet. Satan was really on my case and I was knee deep into sexual immorality, drunkedness, drugs, fornicating with girls for years and years without the slightest iota of conviction from the Holy Spirit because He was not in my life.
When you read about God in the Old Testament, this is a being you absolutely do not want to be on the wrong side of. Trust me elders, you don’t. His love is extreme but His punishments and wrath are equally extreme, different ends of the spectrum. And He absolutely hates disobedience.
Can you imagine one day dying, which we all will, standing before the creator and the last words you hear are, "Depart from me, I never knew you." The same voice the Israelites were so horrified by that they begged Him not to speak again for they would die. And never kid yourself and get into the bandwagon of there’s no proof of life after death, yadda yadda yadda. If you throw a dead seed into the ground and it gets rained on, it will grow into a living plant, much less a human being. Jesus Christ resurrected which is proof enough.
Getting the Holy Spirit into your life is as simple as just going on your knees and literally asking Him to guide your life. You will start noticing subtle changes. You will start cursing less, drinking less, smoking less, the list is endless, fornicating less… You will grow to hate sin.
What better comfort can you have growing old, lying on your death bed knowing that when your soul separates from your body, Christ will be there, reaching out to you with his nail scarred hands saying, " Welcome home, good and faithful servant." Is there a better joy? I think not.
