Download Hiren Boot CD (“Windows Live” CD which shall assist you in recovering the data) and Rufus (for preparing a hiren bootable usb drive )
When booting via usb drive [you shall be presented with information below]

Choose “Mini Windows Xp” which will boot you right to a familiar windows desktop and explore the internal HDD
Access and store the files or folder that you need and re-install the OS.
