I have received numerous queries about what happened to the village gutter publication, and I wish to explain why you are no longer getting your weekly dose of shiet.
I stated in my original gatheti that I was writing as a means to occupy my time after losing my job, and secondly as an appeal to those who appreciate to support me financially. Well, I received all manner of responses (public and privately), job leads, survival tips and also financial support from two talkers. na matusi pia. And then a door opened.
One of the talkers who got my CV- not sure who, coz I sent to several talkers’ email addresses- was impressed by my gutter publication and gave my number to manager in a golf club located on the outskirts of the city. I met the guy -he had the gatheti open on his tablet- and he told me he would like me to be doing a weekly newsletter for them. We agreed on the format, what to include, the language to use (hakuna uchokosh hapo), schedules and the money. I deliver my draft on Wednesday for review and do corrections on Thursday to send the final by evening to the printer. The thing is printed on Friday and delivered to the golf club Friday 3pm. I get a check immediately. We have worked well and yesterday, I got my second check. I can confidently say that am very much okay now and this arrangement, despite not being in line with my career, is paying almost double what the muhindi was paying. Na haiko taxed :).
This would not have happened without the support of you, KTalkers, and most notably, the following people:
