KRA taps Kenya Power meters to catch landlords...

Hii story imenishtua kidogo, how true is it…?

https://www.nation.co.ke/business/KRA-taps-Kenya-Power-meters-to-catch-landlords/996-5138006-easfdy/index.html

Register meter under name of your tenants not yours. Simple and easy

How now bro, they move in and out like every other month…

Na tenant akihama??

Precisely!

mteso unafikiria tenants ni stupid, after paying rent tena akulipie tax na after kuhama hama awe na meter kama tano atajielezeaje kwa taxman ati yeye sio property owner alikuwa anaisaidia landlords kutolipa ushuru?you’re becoming senile

you disable ama change to the new tenant - ama how do tenants pay their bills, is it in the landlords name ama in their name at kplc

this has already been happening for a while.kra has been quietly upgrading its systems to some next level shit but systems are as good as the people and the purge for kra cartels is on full force.by next financial year kwanza if the incoming CG will be no nonsense kutakua kumoto kuliko pasi ya makaa.

I have heard landlords complain about the backdated tax amounts, lakini did not know they use electricity meters to follow up

KRA is singling out individuals with multiple electricity meters registered under their names and estimating taxes due during the years when the meters have been active.

yaani they check the number of months that meter has been actively been paid into and calculate amount due from that, plus penalties

I usually wonder why then don’t sync their system to bank systems/ accounts and of course mpesa that would be a sure way of sorting out all the people who evade paying tax

Wewe umeponea juu renters wako hutumia nyangile na candles for light na maji ni ya kununua na mtungi

How do they determine value of rent paid?
Or do they physically visit the premises and ask tenants how much they pay?

Hii taps ya business daily ni kitu gani kila page taps?

Tenant huingia nyumba iko na meter anafungua consumer account.

KRA imekuwa tough for a while now. Unlike previously, this time it is sustaining the energy! Imeangaisha watu hapa Nairobi for the last two years. People, tighten your belts

This is impractical!

I was told, this happened or rather happens huko eastlands, huruma and dandora - they first visit the rental units and talk to the tenants, of course some tenants wakisikia landlord anamulikwa they exaggerate the amount they pay per month, but after that using that amount they will then use their own means to determine how long those units have been occupied, I guess as mentioned they use the electric meters to determine how many months a unit has been occupied, they then multiply by the figure they were told and add like 300% penalties, they then call the landlord and tell them the amount owed and ask them to appear at their offices.

alafu unaskia mafala wakisema sijui war on corruption is cosmetic hawajui venye kumeharibika

kama wanatumia meter kuna watu wataumia na zile prepaid, Niko na kama 15 na zinafanya kazi lakini jina sio yangu,he he he

before meter ziwekwe nani aliapply ndio hata stima iwekwe? i guess tenants walikuja kununua tu token.
