President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday ordered a lifestyle audit of all Kenya Revenue Authority staff in a drastic bid to seal tax leakages linked to employees.
The presidential directive targets rogue employees whose actions have led to loss of State revenue. The rare directive comes against the backdrop of missed revenue targets by the authority.
The system is funny Governors want the central government to come slowly on the e-procurement system, well connected businessmen avoid paying taxes on imports for high returns (remember we are importing more goods than exporting)
This is pathetic and so desparado. So they want to fix junior KRA officers but hold prayer rallies for people involved in NYS saga and those procuring El Nino soap?!!
I sense trouble here, but I doubt whether they will come out with something credible at the end of the day BECAUSE even the so called āinvestigatorsā have stomachs to be fedā¦
By the way i hear that staff that want to evade scrutiny usually park the expensive cars at lets say kenyatta avenue or high court parking then walk to KRA offices to avoid arousing suspicion from seniors.
Its even more ironic that KRA is targeting landlords to increase its annual Tax revenue, how many work at KRA and own numerous flats in eastlands and thika road.
If they want to be serious, seriousness has to start from the top. I recall the first few months of kibaki presidency passengers in a matatu would stop/arrest/prevent a cop taking a bribe. This is all because of the tone at the top.
times tower wanakula pesa ya watu wanataka passports mbio mbio etc hapo kuna quick cash daily yenye hata watu hawaitishi ni kupelekewa. airport just kuokota kwa watu wenye wanapark place haifai per day ni pesa mingi sana
