Kinisu's resignation: Who is to blame for this sad trend?

So Kinisu resigned yesterday to become the shortest serving EACC head. This is the latest low hit by the Jubilee administration in the fight against corruption. Anyone who occupies this office is doomed, he or she knows that sooner or later they will be removed by the executive or parliament. However, i feel unlike his predecessors, Kinisu’s case is unique because it relates to his personal business affairs which should have been uncovered by available avenues way before even his name was considered and forwarded for vetting. So who is to blame for this mess?

The President of Kenya. H.E Uhuru Kenyatta
He is the nominating authority. He is the one who forwarded Kinisu’s name to Parliament for consideration. Due to the tyranny of numbers, the person forwarded by the president gets the job 99% of the time. The president should have had his people do some background research on Kinisu. I am sure the information we are getting now could have been uncovered and amends made or Kinisu’s name rejected altogether.

The national assembly of Kenya (Vetting committee)
It is clear that our legislators did not do a good job. Vetting is not a job interview. A thorough vetting process should have been done . public participation is a key element in this process. However considering the very short time that the vetting took place , I doubt any public participation was taken seriously by members of parliament.

Miss Anne Mumbi Waiguru
She was the head of the affected docket during these NYS manenos. Surely she should have revealed that Kinisu was doing business with a department under her. This was her duty as both a CS and a law abiding citizen and the fact that she did not come forward leaves some unanswered questions.

Mr. Philip Kinisu himself
He should have declared all his dealings hata kabla aulizwe. Specifically he should have declared that he had a company that had business dealings with the government more so with NYS which was under investigation at the time of his appointment. It was in his best interests to reveal this information if he has nothing to hide as he says. He was also very fast to clear Anne Waiguru even though new information was coming out daily.

The Media
In other countries, the media would have flagged Kinisu immediately his name was floated. Unfortunately our so called journalists are a lazy bunch just sitting in offices in town reading mharo dot cum. Specifically investigative journalism is dead the best they can do is follow prostitutes and socialites and tell us who Jacob Juma was sleeping with. The fourth estate has failed in it’s role as a watchdog.

So where does the buck stop?
I say the buck stops with the President of Kenya. He has the powers and if he needs more powers he can talk to parliament the way he did with the security bill amendment. I think the Jubilee government is not interested in fighting corruption as they say. On my report card, I give the Jubilee administration a strong E in fighting corruption

Where do you leave out NIS? They should have been the ones to avail every bit of information on Kinisu to the president or other relevant authorities.

My 2 cents, it was in the interest of the above named parties, to have a man of questionable character in charge of EACC, and how did we end up with Tobiko ?

Kenya is running on auto mode.

the guy was a piece of chieth thief nashangaa mbona MPs wa BABA walikuwa wanamtetea

Those of us who know Kinisu were wondering why Uhuru okayed his nomination. For starters, dude takes no prisoners and we were sure that he will bring down one or two chief corruption godfathers. right?wrong. The administration knew exactly what they were doing having already offered his wife a lucrative contract and then deciding to pay the cash just when the dude was narrowing in on gatekeeper Halakhe.

The political class has ZERO interest in fighting corruption, EACC will never be equipped to do a good job.

Kuna watu Kinisu aliruka, na hao majamaa ndio walipea uhunye jina yake for the job.

Chief, where in the world does the right hand do what the left hand doesn’t know? Kinisu, just like many others before him, was set up. Hapa huwa hakuna huruma. The chair is for people who can protect the interests of cartels. So cartels knew beforehand who they were installing on that seat. The rider though, was that should he try to play an active role in confronting corrupt officers who are playing in the interest of the cartel, then some kind of motion would be set so that he can be removed. Only that he got callous and forgot that “Kenya ina wenyewe” and refused to resign soon as the onslaught begun. His loss.

Uzuri utaskia tu hakuna mtu anamfatilia. Story yake itaisha arudi akule hiyo 200m.

Ama unadhani kwanini Waiguru ndio alikuwa anampa orders when the NYS case ilianza instead of him being the one to direct the case? Unadhani mafisa wake walienda pale Capitol Hill kwa RAO kufunga ofisi kwa amri za nani? Waiguru my friend. And now that he couldn’t manage to protect mama, hivyo tu; his purpose is done. If he cannot protect the cartel, what’s his purpose?

kazi ya Media ni kula na kustay politically correct, can’t bite the hands that feeds you

Exactly,they realized dude wasn’t going toplay ball…

So Kinisu anasimama wapi MP pia sisi tukule pesa

Dude hates politics, but might have to for protection

@mikel sio unipige intro its seems unamjua nimuonyeshe kuinvest KES 200,000,000.00. Asiwe kama Wa-iguru (hate this fat mama) kupeleka pesa Kirinyaga (Kirinyaga South with its administrative centre at Wanguru) instead of Nairobbery

Haha actually its the dude who will teach you, hes very smart and is already very rich hio mia mbili haishtui yeye

Corruption just like prostitution is here to stay…its a culture we cant do without, we condemn it in the open but do it when we get a chance…we should jus accept this reality.
