The way Kikuyus are obsessed with land is just sorcery that was cooked by the devil himself. I have a cousin who keeps buying land in the most remotest of places believing she will cash in big in future, pure speculation. She will cash in I bet but when that desert in Utah or those Mexican deserts have skyscrapers. Some older guy recently bought land with his retirement money, built some ambitious high end hotel, but he is the manager, the accountant and the owner as well, you wonder how long it will take to recover his 40 mil, plus another 20 mil for the construction.

That’s how the universe works. You cant have millions in bank and exist in the same planet where someone is sleeping hungry. You will have to use the amount either with good projects, lanyes or plots but you must work your ass as defined by universe.
Having a piece of land you can call your own (mũgũnda wakwa), is the most satisfying feeling you can have. Land is one of the factors of production. Am now busy top dressing my potato crop after getting the subsidised fertilizer.

Small mentality. I was offered a piece of land 50 by 100 I told the owner I don’t invest in land that has no value. If am to buy a land I will go for two acres and above. Invest in boreholes. Hapa utakafunga na ukulima. People will still eat.

Buying those 50 by 100 is fastest way to destroy wealth and even get conned…however Watu wengi ni mapumbafu and can’t handle the responsibility that comes with big amounts of money…many people can’t stay calm and sober with 100k liquid cash at disposal, let alone a few millions…the reality is many are poor because they can’t keep the little they have without their own stupidity getting the better of them
