demonstrations day in day out. only 37 dead. soldiers don’t kill their kinsmen without cause. Kenya even two day demonstrations are enough for the uniformed guys to kill and maim over 100 innocent people. Their own people. their own fellow citizens. There have been demonstrations, anti-government demos in Iran. Their dealth tolls are very low compared with Kenya. No uniformed officer should be comfortable killing his own brothers, his own tribesmen, his fellow citizen, ju ya siasa.
it’s our time to eat, isn’t something you don’t wanna play around with. in the days of Jomo and Moi as presidents, the Kikuyu and Kalenjin believed that the government belonged to them, and proceeded to protect their leaders at all cost.
You really expect a dictatorship to provide the actual number of people that have been killed by security forces?
Only 37 dead? Tells alot.
Ghaseer you must be shallow to believe what the media is telling you
But frankly, life is very cheap in Kenya. Even the congo demonstrations, the death toll was low. One day, we will definitely need genuine police reforms. Our police force is still operated using the colonial anti-maumau manuals. They believe in using the maximum force. And they do definitely derive some pleasure from seeing people writhing on the ground.
Our situation in kenya, as far as police brutality goes, is actually worsening. It is not getting better. You remember that during the anti-moi demonstrations of the 90s, the police would at least try to preserve life. But last year, you had people who looked like members of a proscribed sect actually going around looking for people to shoot.

Don’t be naive omwami, in a country where international media has been kicked out you expect those figures to be accurate?

Yes an in Kenya we have seen demonstrators shooting at the police. Some others are killed very from demonstrators by people on motorbikes And statistics added on police count
Hapa I’ll defend the police. When you throw a stone at a police officer, that stone is potentially a life taking stone. So since you’re trying to kill the police then the police officer should try to neutralise the threat. Never throw stones at the man with the gun, you will not win
