Key take aways from living and working in Nyeri, Laikipia, and Nyandarua county. People who are being stressed by life in Nairobi this is for you.

The quality of life is just unmatched. The roads might are not be good huko Nyandarua interior so if you want to start farming, you have to be aware of potential transportation problems.

But In Nyeri, Kuna maji and tarmacked roads save for some places huko kieni but overall, infrastructure iko poa in Nyeri - even rural areas za Nyeri ziko poa Sana. Better than the Vumbistan middle class estates in Nairobi.

If you are doing virtual work ama online work, there’s no reason to surfer in Nairobi and Kiambu. Kujeni huku central. Internet is good.

Some governors have really transformed some of the rural areas. A villager in Nyeri has guaranteed clean tap water whereas some middo class guys can barely get water on a weekly basis. Kupambana na water bowsers tu.

What kind of a deal is that?

Anyways, I know that not everyone can move because of the nature of the job but there are some businesses really doing well than you think.

My cousin has a shuttle business with 4NTE Sacco between Nyeri and Nakuru and gari haikai stage more than 15 minutes. On weekends anaweza manage hata kuenda squad tatu. Zingine hata anakakataa juu ya fatigue.

The Nyeri - Nyahururu route is even more busy with this Sacco so ukileta your shuttle haitakaa idle. All this without traffic jams za Nairobi.

He now wants to buy another one because the business is doing quite well.

Point is, even in terms of business you don’t have to depend on or be anchored to Nairobi. There’s a sizeable middle class in these sides to sustain a business.

Concerning access to quality health services, this might be an unpopular opinion but public hospitals have really come a long way.

Just go to Othaya hospital ama PGH Nyeri and compare waiting times of seeing a doctor with say Nairobi hospital. Mtu ameenda Othaya hospital will see a doctor before you. Yet he is paying a fraction of the price.

Worst thing is that with Nairobi ama Agha Khan hospitals, you will be overbilled with useless tests and medicines for a simple ailment.

Am telling you guys. Outside Nairobi, things can really work for you.

For the married guys worrying about quality of Schools for their children. Heheee. Let me tell you, Nyeri has better schools. You know with a proper compound, playing fields and shit. So the little ones are occupied with games and wholesome education.

Not playing in shitty concrete jungles that pretend to be schools huku Nairobi.

That’s all my dear elders.

Makende ya nyani

Writer kama @Azor Ahai sijui anafanya nini Nairobi akilipa one bedroom 18k Ruiru. Rudi Nyahururu uishi kama bazu because your meagre Uvocorp earnings would go a long way there…

I true that

Mambo ya kutuita “Dear” utawacha nanii

The opportunities of making money here are unmatched. Wheeler dealer kama mimi kuhama from Nai is financial suicide.

I have lived in both environments. The only thing I can say is that the decision would only favor someone with a fixed income e.g a teacher, nurse, banker etc. Someone who trades his time for money bila mashimo za kupata extra money. You would rather be a bank teller in Nyeri or Nyahururu than in Nairobi. Hapo nakubali.

On the other hand, kama wewe ni mtu wa Jua Kali wheeler dealer, Nairobi is paradise. Ocha hutafanya any serious hustles because the flow of money is severely limited.

So, I believe it largely depends on what one does for a living.

Mimi nko ushago by the way. I have already started buying building materials. In two years, nitakua nishajisettia a 4 bedroom mansionette na sitasumbua. Town life ni upussy.

Nairobi kugumu. Kwanza na family ni shida tupu.

With the work from home culture getting adopted,in 2yrs ata mimi nitakuwa nimerudi ocha…I can generate other incomes from there

Ni ngumu only if mtu ni peasant na hajui kujipanga. If you find yourself raising children kwa apartment, jua you have no business in Nairobi urudi tu ocha kama vile ki.pii @Jimit amefanya after kupigwa kahasho na covid.

Wewe nawe wacha upuzi…so unataka kusema all those who have raised their kids wakiwa huku Nai walikuwa wajinga…what if their job opposhunity was in Nairobi

Haiya. Wewe pia uko among watu wa kuraise watoi wakiwa 7th floor?? Nimesema ukijipata unaraise watoi kwa apartment peleka tu family ocha ubaki Nai. Don’t subject them to a peasant lifestyle.

I can personally attest to that. Nyahururu is a very nice place to live, better than Nyeri. You will find many ex- Nyerians living there because land subdivisions on their ancestral land became unsustainable. The only problem with Nyahururu is the extremely cold nighttime weather but that’s easily rectified with proper insulation. Lack of healthcare is another issue. I guess if you have a medical emergency the closest hospital is in Nyeri.

Ndio ukawakamulie makhupipi…huo wako ni upuss…mtu aishi na La familia penye kitunguu itanukia

Mtawacha kupangia watu maisha

Nakuru is closer to Nyahururu than Nyeri.Nyahururu pia kuna a level 4 hospital.
Tembea Kenya

Not really. Kuna hospitals mingi Nyahururu including za Catholic church. Hapo opposite police station kuna level something hospital ya gava. Hospitals are not an issue in Nyahururu unless you don’t know where to find them.
