This beautiful soul, Lucy Atieno decided to take her life in a far land (Vienna, Austria) due depression caused by the fact that she wasn’t able to provide for herself and her family back in Seme, Kisumu County who kept asking for money. Lucy threw herself on a railway line and was overrun by a speeding electric train after informing a friend and the police of her intention to take her life BUT they decided to take no urgent action. Her body was cremated in Vienna and ashes sent on Friday and was burried at her home in Seme yesterday. What people back in Kenya should understand is that our brothers and sisters in foreign lands equally go through hard times, and in some cases harder than what we go through back at home. Remember they don’t even have relatives there and sometimes have to work thrice as hard as the aborigines to make ends meet. Loneliness plus the push by people back home who always have high expectations of them can leave one with no other option!
