The much touted Competency Based Curriculum or CBC is a sham.
It is expensive and meant to create zombie workers who don’t think.
President Ruto has always fought against thinking by supporting physical sciences instead of the much rounded and better social sciences. He support banning social sciences.
The mans from Sugoi is the worst thing to ever happen to Kenya.
The 844 system encouraged cramming rather than critical analysis.
No wonder too many Kenyans are incompetent.

Lack of funding for education is the major issue. Some school kids in kilifi county still study under a tree. Cbc is very intensive in terms of infrastructure required. The government has not invested enough to make this model sustainable in the long run. While 8-4-4 had its challenges, we should have tweaked it to accommodate technical subjects such as business, agriculture, carpentry, woodwork, computer studies etc.
Further, abolish public boarding schools. The conditions in these schools are horrible!
At the University level, it is just fine. Maybe ni hio issue ya fees tu. But in terms of quality, especially public institutions, they are good.

He was also Agriculture minister and within weeks it was scandal after scandal.
Then y’all gave him the Presidency.

8-4-4 had degenerated to merely cramming content and cheating exams and something had to be done to rectify things

CBC has glaring challenges but 8-4-4 had become a piece of shit to the extent that even teachers are doing exams for students. Grades are openly bought by big schools

Our current education system is full of shit.
Secondary School graduates struggle with simple arithmetic and expressing themselves on paper.
University Graduates are not able to articulate their thoughts or make a simple presentation at Job Interviews (..I know - I have participated on some panels..).
We have a lot of “educated fools” running our governance structures and even destroying the few that are still trying to function.
