Common sense, it is cheaper to buy from China than to make them locally. I’ll give an closer example, sukari ya Brazil ni cheaper compared na ya mumias or Nzoia. Now, which one will you buy?

Okuyo also has fertile land but they always plant maize which flops badly with the continued failed rains over the recent years.

So instead of reducing prices in main factors of production such as fuel,fertilizer and electricity which make the final product expensive ,they would rather import.
