Kenya economy isn't growing any time soon.

Unless we change our minds and focus on work, overhaul education system, stop corruption, change our judiciary, move to export based economy, reduce our wage bills, growing this economy with a tall order for us.

our education is based on competition not the final competent individuals equipped to production, white collar jobs without the international standards to export human workforce isn’t helping us rather making fraudster who are aren’t ready to soil their hands in work.how many engineers do we have in this country?how many technical experts do we have in Kenya in our industrial sector.

our judicial system is rotten.no justice in Kenya if you don’t have the cash.you can pay yourself out of the hook no matter the crime/offense.why will I not be corrupt given the opportunity and I can buy out my innocence?

health sector is the worst.how can a population of 40m plus have its national referral hospital with only 42 icu beds.the private sector has the best of health care to cater for the able.nobody is concerned of the masses which makes bulk of the 40m plus.a prosperous economy has to have a healthy work force.

food security,ok are we still importing sugar from Uganda, maize from Malawi just to name a few.haven’t we already wasted billions in elnino preparedness.can’t these funds harvest the much anticipated elnino waters and do irrigation to make the population have adequate and quality food supplies.

who needs the SGR if the current one is underutilized.wouldn’t this be used to ferry imports which we have much appetite for?wouldn’t this be be a one way business.wasn’t lappset a better project to undertake and open up our marginalized Kenya, increase our tax base?

government borrowing, how on earth can one incurr a debt, not bother how the money will be spent misappropriation? embezzlement ?

what does Kenya export if I may ask, look at what we hawk in towns.plastic cobs, plastic cups, substandard electronics from established economies like the Chinese.

what is the dependence ratio in Kenya, the best performing sectors, leisure industry alcohol, khat business,b.a.t.how many DJs do we have compared to neurosurgeons.

well we all need change but the change has to start from within.change is contagious if we embrace it from within its going to reflect within a short period of time.

Egypt has one river flowing across the entire nation but they have never been food insecure

Also, read up on how countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia managed to change from net importers to net exporters of rice within a generation. Closer home in Africa, Ivory Coast and Malawi.

Dactari Luther 12.how are we going wrong on issues of health, and what should be done differently to improve health standards into the international levels.i understand there was an agreement at Bamako Mali if I’m not wrong on the proportions of budgetary allocations on the health sector of all member countries who participated in that conference

The turn around is very simple.Get an efficient non partisan Judiciary and everything else will follow

What about the comprising effect of the national assembly.if you try to net the big fish there they are on your neck.Remember Lumumba at eacc

The problem with most things in Kenya is, to a large extent, politics. We politicize everything, even that which doesn’t need to be and in the process obfuscate facts unnecessarily. You saw it even during the recent teachers’ strike. There was a great number of people saying that education should be devolved just like healthcare as a way to deal with the frequent strikes. Everybody conveniently forgets to address the cause of those strikes, preferring to bury their heads in the sand.

The sad reality is that devolution of healthcare as currently implemented/structured is no solution. But I surmise that it’ll take us at least a decade to come to terms with that fact. In the meantime, we shall continue training medics for other countries.

Wamesema hawataki UPUUS hapa. On a serious note just like @Luther12 has said, in Kenya everything is politicized and there is no meaningful contribution in utilizing the resources we have. Its sad but the reality is that the politicians and those in high offices fight and jostle for positions in order to “eat” rather than make gainful contributions. They engage in corruption without fear knowing very well hakuna mahali watapelekwa.
