The day started off with Kenya’s authorities denying Somali ministers visas …a move that was quickly read in the context of the ICJ maritime dispute

It then progressed with Kenya police closing 5 Hawala operated by Somalis. Among those closed Hawala included TAAJ, AMAL

If it’s not the ICJ machungu, then it must be the UAE influence, viz;

In my opinion closing hawala doesn’t hurt Somali nationals more than it hurts Kenyan Somalis. Hawala are used by Somali in diaspora for remittances to Kenyan Somalis

Now, how will the Somali government react?

They won’t repeat the conciliatory statements they did when the ICJ issue came to the fore. They are most likely to:

[li]Call for the movement of UN Somalia to Djibouti. That would mean job losses to thousands of Kenyans who reside and work in Nairobi while purporting to be acting for the Somali people[/li][li]Ban Kenyan Khat from accessing the Somali Market [/li][/ul]
