Having been born post-82 coup, when Kenya’s military became professional winning accolades worldwide.
It took years of hardwork and careers were sacrificed in the process.
The era of refined distinguished generals and soldiers, Mohamud ,Kianga,Tonje ,Opande,Sumbeiywo etc etc etc …
With the recent “operation dumisha utulivu” here is my 2 cents…
—> KDF should be NON-PARTISAN.
It should only have plans to secure key govt installations incase their is a public uprising , chances nil, and in the event the police are overwhelmed.
----> KDF should only advance its military police in its plans,who will work with IG Boinett ,with reinforcements incase GSU,police are overwhelmed.
—> KDF Should only back up GSU and RDU ,RBPU in securing telco masts in volatile areas.
---->> IG BOINETT has more than 190,000 armed GSU,AP,POLICE,KWS,KFS ,PRISONS etc and a further 40,000 NYS servicemen trained in anti-riots drills who will compliment the police during the elections under his command.
IG Boinett ,this is your show ,DONT let KDF or NIS steal your show.
so WHY do we still NEED KDF in the elections??? its only a few hotspots counties not the whole country that will likely riot.
My advice to KDF is to remain appolitical, as its the only institution Kenyans have 100% faith in.
Let it remain sacred, because if it allows itself to play politics , a time will come in the near future maybe 20 years or more when it will be used to extend a president’s term or suspend the constitution,or send KDF tanks to disperse a political rally at uhuru park etc etc let KDF generals think outside the box.
Let KDF urge Kenyans be peaceful ,urge IEBC to conduct credible polls and assure the world of its non-inteference.
NIS DG Gen Kameru should follow Brigadier (rtd) Boinett’s footsteps and uphold NIS professionalism. Dont let NIS play politics, it should let Pres. Uhuru win fairly, he doesn’t need its support to win anyway. NIS will in the future maybe 10 years be used to subvert the constitution if it continues to sleep with politicians.You can be loyal to Kenya without sleeping with politicians.
My advice is to IEBC , Hold CREDIBLE elections . Make your processes transparent. Invite the Press and foreign observers in all the steps. Be patriots. Kenyans are generally peaceful ,just hold a credible election and dont burn this country down.Its NOT KDF or NIS that will be blamed but individual IEBC commissioners.
