KDF in Somali base killed after charcoal deal went sour.

Obviously that’s just something I made up but in this country I wouldn’t be too surprised if this turned out to be true.
I must confess that I haven’t really felt the pain of the dead soldiers and that’s mostly because I have become conditioned to view disciplined forces a certain way. From the manner in which they’re traditionally selected to the manner in which they conduct themselves, it’s difficult for me to imagine myself pointing out a kenyan soldier or cop to my kids and telling them those are the people you should look up to or those are heroes. But maybe that’s just me.
And I feel like in a few weeks or months we’ll start hearing how the whole thing could have been avoided or how senior people in Kenya were warned of the attack earlier. I once wanted to be a soldier but I just couldn’t find an army worth fighting with.
I hope the families of the slain soldiers will manage to carry on.

Am sure the storyline would have been different if you had a close relative fighting on the front line. That’s when the war comes closer home.

Picture this scenario, your brother who was on his way back home is turned back midway (after just crossing in to ke)because the company that had just relieved them has just been wiped out.

So you have interacted with every single member of our disciplined forces and found them not worthy of your sympathy and appreciation? I wouldn’t be surprised if you were here eulogizing one of those who passed on if you had relations with them, you are a hypocrite.

The problem is, these same soldiers huwa hawatupi nafasi ya kuwaelewa. I feel sorry for the young lives lost, …but my mind cant forget that these same people huwa wanatuharrass …i remember how their lorry hit a motorcyle and its rider was badly injured. The customer had bruises tu, so he ran from shock. The guys reversed the lorry and maliziad the rider kabisa.

I figured those with relatives there would have something to say on that but for me it is what it is. My encounters with kenyan soldiers have shown me they feel too entitled. Most are not patriots but people who took a job coz it pays so why should they treat the rest of us like sh*t?

you have every right to feel the way you doi. Consider for a moment that kdf is one of the most disciplined forces in Africa and imagine how someone else feels about their defence forces. I feel the police are very stupid. As for kdf… Not really. But I too have a feeling that there’s bound to be a story in the near future that will tell if a weak link somewhere.

One of my biggest issue is how those guys think they’re above the law. They can’t listen to cops when they make a mistake. One day the driver of a bus i was in overtook their lorry and he almost ran us out of the road

I’d be eulogising his life, not his job

That’s like condemning a whole community because it has a few bad elements

Imagine someone bribed to get the job. Then dies in action. Ni kama kulipa malaya harafu anakuambukiza thitima.

And btw, are those guys insured? Their widows would smile all the way to the bank.

AMISOM is supposed to pay 50000 dollars for every dead soldier.

To whom? Gov’t or next of kin?

I feel sorry for their families. I hear it’s difficult for the military to pay up sometimes

we have very small minded, entitled a**holes here but hey that’s just my opinion

and I bet you voted for babu in 2013, you believe he won but kdf stole his win, just be frank and admit that’s the cause of your beef.
