Up to 80 KCSE candidates from Matungulu Boys High in Machakos County staged a mass walkout on Wednesday, November 25, citing learning fatigue.
The form four learners stormed out of the school premises in the evening without staging any form of a violent riot, leaving behind 36 students. They had earlier in the day boycotted meals claiming they were surviving on a poor diet. They also accused the school’s administration of being too strict and withdrawing their weekly entertainment sessions. “We are tired of studying. The principal has been too strict and has been denying us our rights. We prefer to stay at home and only come to do our examinations when the time comes,” a student told reporters. Matungulu Boys High School Principal Joseph Makau condemned the mass walkout accusing the students of a gross display of misconduct. “Those who walked out of the school are suffering from ‘freestyle’ kind of living where they don’t want to adhere to basic regulations for conducive learning. We will remain firm and as a school, we will not entertain any indiscipline that threatens smooth learning,” Makau stated.
The school has since notified parents in a bid to resolve the issue.
Not in my time during school days i heard anything like this,- ndio tunatoroka shule but only during subjects we didnt like, lakini kusema ati we are tired of studying, hio ukanda ya mzee will stick on your back. we didnt have entertainment like they have now, mwanzo, hio KBC inaanza saa 0430, tv ni sato mpaka sato, tena what will you be looking, zile weekend movies za usiku half of it umelala.
vijana wawache mchezo, au that song ya someni vijana, mupate bi ya bidiii hawakuimbiwa !
Wacha ujinga!! In your time was there COVID-19??? Were you forced to stay home for almost a whole year?? And then forced to cover what you missed in that whole period within a few weeks? Wacha upussy I can feel their frustration. Hii education system iko so flawed, kutokea ile mtukutu inakaa kama ilizaliwa kama imechomeka inaitwa Magoha to heads of schools to you. Everybody seems to have postponed their reasoning capabilities
Kijana wacha kunichokesha akili. We are talking about Covid? Sio ile upussy ya kustrike juu mmekatazwa kutombana au kuwatch porno or such kind of shit! This is motherfucking covid it has postponed education for at 3/4 of the year and now students are being forced to complete that learning within a very short window
Wanafanya hivyo juu Kuna maorgies wanamiss huko nje, ongeza bahngi, changaa, kuber, tap tap, miraa, muguka hata mutura banaa, hizi vitu it’s up to the principal awaprovidie hata kama ataenda local pub kusaka mapoko
Masomo ya siku hizi iko na challenge mingi,. Shida ya hao vijana ni wameonja utamu wa kubangaiza home kukula, kupiga ponyetho na kuenda choo bila shugli hii period ya Covid. So clearly the principal is dealing with a group of people whose minds have evolved. Just like the slaves. When they learned to read,… they realised the same bible their masters used as a guide, talked about captivtity and breaking of bondage.
No big deal. Shule za Ukambani ziko hivo sometimes. Next is Kinyui Boys, then Kitondo, then Tala, then Mackenzie, then Machakos School, Kabaa and the sequence goes on. Even us we did a walk out at some point. Of course we came back same day. And we didn’t actually sneak, tulipita kwa main gate mzima mzima after kunyimwa leave out. Heri hata hawa waliacha 36 students, us we only left the School captain. Even the CU Captain we were with him :D:D.
Of course we were confronted by the OCPD and Education officials na tukajitetea and they actually left us to proceed for a “break”. The Principal was in Mombasa at the Heads of Schools conference. Good old times!
Am just wondering cant this students be examined what they studied only, wafanye exam ya hizo tu , tu pump a whole one yr syllabus in a few months is crazy .
Ban all boarding schools. Let all schools be day schools for kids learn trades from their parents. Society shouldn’t do parenting for lazy parents, they are subjecting us to emotionally unstable leaders.
That will be a disaster. This was actually simple. All studies were to be postponed till next year since our education system heavy relies on time schedules. Lakini everybody including the parents cannot figure that out and they’re trying to force am entire year’s reading within three weeks. It will surely backfire.
Mimi my thinking all through was that the school calendar for this year be scrapped and kids rest then resume next year. Why the rush for just exams yet it’s not a matter of life and death!
We already have a generation of young slay parents. Extremely clueless and lazy. They were heavily exposed by the pandemic. Unable to look after their teens for a long period.
And now this poor lost kids. And a useless gava in power…
I support banning of all boarding schools. Mwalimu afanye kazi yake kwa shule during the day na mzazi ashikilie nyumbani…some day schools like Kianda still do v well.
KCSE needs to be made optional such that a candidate bora ame attend shule and has performed okay over 4 years he/she should be allowed to graduate high school. Also, they should offer kcse several times a year in case someone decides to attend college later on. I feel for these kids, we are very lucky not to have suffered like they have. They are traumatized by the effects of covid and so teachers need to handle them with utmost care and sympathy.
i see no challenge anywhere… sisi ata kucomplete syllabus hatukuweza and nobody cared. Kama wako ako huko, baas mpee time aende akae nyumbani asifanye exam. Pussy generation
