Karachuonyo MP James Rege has quit the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) for Jubilee. The legislator said he was fed up with the Orange party as it had failed to uphold internal democracy. “I have resolved to cross over to Jubilee Alliance and I have no regret over the decision,” he said. Mr Rege said the law allowed him to associate with a political group of his choice. The lawmaker added that he will soon make a public pronouncement to clear the air of “any political doubt”. Rege follows in the footsteps of Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba and his Funyula counterpart Paul Otuoma who quit as ODM secretary general and vice chairman respectively. Rege now joins a growing list of ODM rebels who have disclosed intent to quit the party. Wednesday, ODM Chairman John Mbadi wondered why Rege was rocking the boat from within. But Rege argued ODM must sanitise its operations. The Karachuonyo MP has in the past two years been avoiding ODM political activities in Nyanza. Instead, he has been concentrating more on development projects funded by his constituency office. Last week, Rege warned that ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s close allies could disintegrate the party ahead of 2017.

They are always short minded, elections 2017 will determine 2022. Cheerleaders only remain in odm because they have chased away all moderate and independent minded candidates. Who will show up for the nominations? Will the current wazee have any following in 2022, they are not getting any younger but the young voters demographic (18yrs-35) is getting bigger.
Don’t even bother, when he was a threat to gov. kidero he was called a chokosh now he is a dream candidate. Opposition fall for mind games so easily like a bee at the sight of a flower.
Alego Usonga MP Omondi Muluan says he shuns Cord leader Raila Odinga’s rallies, because he doesn’t have cash to give hecklers. He said in the few rallies he has attended, youths have always been after him to give them “something small”. Otherwise, they heckle him. Muluan said being heckled and booed has made him avoid Raila’s political rallies, where youth turn up in large numbers. He spoke in his Alego Usonga constituency on Monday. “I have to walk around with more than Sh200,000 to manage youths in most of Raila’s functions. I have to give them at least Sh200 each. I can’t manage such an amount and Raila is always in functions,” he said. The last time Muluan attended a Raila function was in Ugunja, Siaya county, early last year. Raila had attended the homecoming party of Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi. Raila’s recent rallies in Nyanza to Western were attended by all Cord leaders from Nyanza, except Muluan. Last year during Madaraka Day celebrations in Siaya County Stadium, Muluan was forced to cut short his speech when youths demanded to know where he usually “hides” during major political rallies. This triggered 30 minutes of confusion as youth expressed their anger. Following the commotion and heckling, Maurice Odhiambo, alias Otoyo, was arrested. He was freed after spending two days in police custody for causing a disturbance.
The commotion delayed the reading of the President’s speech until 2.30pm. A few minutes before the commotion, some MCAs had disagreed over the management of county affairs.
Raila had a good ten years of the new devolved constitution to show what he could do through the many county Governments he won. Unfortunately all we saw was corruption, chaos and having the Governors follow him all over his rallies. IF he can deliver nothing to half the country why should he get my vote for president? Bure kabisa!
