With Baba working with Ruto, kambas are politically stranded since Kalonzo lacks spine.
Now, ler me put some issues into perspective:
a) Although Kambas have supported baba in 3 consecutive elections, their support has been sterile since it never made baba the president. Honestly, it was useless support. And I think Kalonzo takes the blame since he never used to vigorously campaign for baba.
b) Given that Kamba didn’t succeed in making baba the president, they should not think that the Luo nation owes them anything. Luos don’t owe them anything.
c) It must be kept in mind that the Kambas betrayed Baba and the whole country in 2007. When other tribes were galvanising around baba, Kalonzo and his kambas chose to split the opposition thereby givig kibaki victory.
d) Kambas supporting baba has been a way of them to atone for that sin of betrayal of 2007. In fact, their atonement has been ineffective since they have not helped baba become president. Therefore- and this is very important- their SIN OF Betrayal of 2007 still remains. It is yet to be atoned. They should therefore not accuse baba of betraying them.
e) The best option for kambas is to work with Jambas. But they should remember that Jambas already has a wife called ODM. They can only act as a mpango wa kando. They support Ruto and perhaps Kalonzo will be made a CS.
f) Their other option is to work with Okuyus. And Okuyus can never play second fiddle to kambas. But of course a kikuyu-kamba ticket will easily be defeated.
In short, Kalonzo should swallow pride and work with Ruto. Kambas don’t have the numbers to allow them play hard to get. Thety should join jambas and allow him to arrange them for their own good.
