He is definitely playing Russian roulette with his chances, yet those young men can clinch their seats without his being president. All they need is his party. What might be riling him is to feel that he has provided a political foundation for others to rise, but he hasn’t achieved his dream. Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against him this time. If I were to speak to him directly I’d say, Take what you are offered, and be content. Sometimes a man must retreat, rather than lose everything. You cannot win by insisting you must be president, or deputy.
According to me, he stands to gain more by running. Even if he is offered deputy president by agwambo and they win, chances are that agwambo’s people will still keep on tormenting him as DP. And Agwambo will never reciprocate, because whenever he thinks of kamba voters, he only sees the 1.6 million in ukambani counties of kitui, machakos and makueni, and never appreciates the fact that part of the support he gets in certain other counties where kamba people have sizeable populations is due to kalonzo’s influence. Raila and his people assumes that he is immensely popular. Let him win by himself, without Kamba and Kalenjin support. Kalonzo gained his current relevance by having dared to run in 2007. He should run. Perhaps he will even surprise himself… (But that is just my 2 cents worth).
True. I dont understand what pple want. Odm guys trying to make him irrelevant while at the same time wooing him to join. Why dont they just leave him alone then if he means nothing to them. The truth is that they understand his potential which can cause a loss or win. He knows this too. Politics is a funny game. Btw who is the prefered running mate @ azimio.
Well, I’ve nothing against him trying his luck, but the way he’s going about it will hurt him.That’s why I said he’ll negotiate himself into obscurity.
Kalonzo is intelligent enough to know that he cannot win on his own but his support means a lot to the side he supports… He is using this to negotiate for significant UPFRONT payment before supporting Azimio… I have read comments from RAO’s cultic supporters telling off Kalonzo… which to me is stupid confidence… Kalonzo’s support means ALOT… there is no wisdom in abusing him when he is negotiating for better terms… Of course, when you see GM in OKA, you must critically think… GM and UK are one and the same thing and I can bet that Kalonzo will join Azimio after being paid by UK and GM handsomely…
I would also advise him to run, coming out number 3 and going home is better than been dp 3rd time or even worse been a speaker. He will probably be appointed a CS or something by the winning team who will still need wiper’s numbers in parliament
True, seems like he is weighing the following options based on possible outcomes.
Its better going to the ballot alone…even if it means getting position 3 but preserving his dignity than:
-Supporting someone against his earlier reiteration that he wasnt going to play an inferior position to some one otherwise he would be branded as st****.
-Joining a coalition consisting of arrogant fellows where even a DP position wont be a celebration.
-joining a coalition which may eventually lose and he finds himself with nothing
But shame… complicating his future presidential chances.
