Something is seriously wrong in Kasarani. So many unresolved deaths quickly are dismissed as suicides…What’s going on ??
On the 23rd of February 2023, it was reported that a 29-year-old woman had died by suicide after a domestic quarrel in Kasarani area, Nairobi. The woman turned out to be Brenda Kawira Gitonga. Preliminary findings had shown that Brenda Kawira Gitonga jumped off the fourth floor of an apartment she and her boyfriend stayed in on Tuesday night after a brief quarrel.
The boyfriend told the police they had an argument before Kawira walked out of their bedroom to the balcony where she apparently jumped off. Police visited the scene and found the deceased at the back seat of the car with visible injuries and bruises on her right thigh, left neck, left cheek and lower limb.
While the police reported that they were carrying our investigation on the alleged suicide, the family is dissatisfied with the explanation given by the boyfriend and the pace of the investigation. “ I want the Director of Criminal Investigation to establish the real circumstances that lead to the death of my daughter Brenda", Catherine, Brenda’s mum cries out. She has been commuting to Nairobi on regular basis to follow up on the justice for her daughter….
