C.S Eugene Wamalwa has signed consultancy on Ksh 10 Billion GOK/World Bank/AfD Lower-Nzoia irrigation & dykes construction that will address perennial flooding in Busia county and support irrigation. He also signed the same for the Ksh.17 Billion Mwache dam GOK/World Bank/AfD Project that will increase water supply to Kwale and Mombasa counties by 186 000m3 daily & support irrigation.
There was another project by World Bank known as Western Kenya Community Driven Development - Flood Mitigation Project, since it was started there have been less incidents of people crying Serikali saidia unfortunately I understand it came to an end last financial year.
I had an opportunity to visit the counties where it was being carried out and I believe with gradual withdrawal it could have completely changed the mindset of the residents.
