The Ngong Road section between Ring Road Kilimani and Dagoretti Corner (Phase III) is scheduled to start early next year with the agreement for funding set for signing on Tuesday 4th July, 2017 between National Treasury and the Japanese Government.

The dualling of Ngong Road Phase II from Dagoretti Corner to Karen Shopping Centre is set to start in August 2017. The contract has been awarded to a Chinese contractor, China Qinjian International Group (Kenya) Ltd which won through a competitive bidding process at a cost of Ksh1.98 billion.

Couldn’t they have squeezed in more lanes out of this? Instead of waiting a few more years to build a “new” 8 lane highway?

That decision is now with NAMATA as to whether they will make more lane, elevated highway, light train or Tramline depending on its masterplan. The land is still available on both sides for expansion. Right now we will have the road dual carriage way, both sides have footpath and motorbike lanes.
