Jubilee development. Nairobi Nakuru highway

Traffic on a section of the Nairobi-Nakuru road will be rerouted from tomorrow to facilitate the expansion of the busy highway.

In a bid to ease traffic to and from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and around Nairobi, and also decongest the city centre, the road is being converted into a major six-lane thoroughfare, complete with interchanges as well as service and bus lanes, among other features.

Perhaps the new expanded road section needs to be setup as a light tram way, to achieve decongestion; On tram journey will take out a large number of cars from the road. Because it is efficient to build, takes people further out and right into the city, decongesting highways and feeder roads especially during peak hours.

Those can only work on Mombasa road up to Athi river, Waiyaki way up to Gitaru, Thika road up to ruiru… but not in the open highway past the metropolitan area.
