It was sent back to state house for President Uhuru to determine its fate in 2014. So far its undergoing review at ministry before Presidency gives the go ahead.
How can it still be under review? From the recent flooding, it has urgently but it into light that this dam is needed. Plus i believe we can fund 50% of the dam ourselves and the rest of the money should come from AFDB, Diaspora Bond and World Bank.
All these projects that were pushed to contract signing in the last months of former President Kibaki term were halted on the advise of former chief of staff Kinyua. Greenfield airport, konza city, lappset projects etc. Lappset contracts were renegotiated and construction launched after a few years later. President Uhuru cancelled Greenfield project a few weeks after launching it. Its was grossly overpriced. Grand high falls dams and Eldoret refferal hospital project were cancelled after China Exim bank complained its project costs were inflated despite no extra civil works added to justify it. Both projects were referred to President Uhuru who halted them. In the last few years the contracts have been renegotiated before a decision on them can be made. Konza finally have the infrastructure construction launched last week after the whole project had to be reviewed afresh. All these projects were cash cows for people around the presidency in the last administration. They were rushed and inflated.
