ONGOING CONSTRUCTION OF THE 135KM NUNO - MODOGASHE ROAD

Ongoing construction of Nuno – Modogashe Road in the North Eastern Region forms a vital link between Garissa, Isiolo, Wajir as well as Mandera Town on the Kenya and Ethiopia Border points.

The Government of Kenya, The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Opec Fund for International Development (OFID), Saudi Development Fund (SDF) and
Abu Dhabi Fund are financing the road works at a cost of 8.4 Billion.

WORKS BEING UNDERTAKEN INCLUDE:

Upgrading of the 135 km existing road to bitumen standard into a two – lane single carriageway

Construction of reinforced concrete Bridge, 105-meter span

Construction of storm water culverts (900 mm Diameter Culverts)

Construction of reinforced concrete for Box culverts

Bus bays, road markings, road signs, guardrails, landscaping and fencing

The road construction was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Uncle Ruto in 2017.

Since then construction has been ongoing very well. Maendeleo Kenya Nzima.

That’s good news, used it to Wajir in 2014 by bus, the bus got stuck for a couple of hrs. I prefer flying to Wajir. Can’t wait to do a road trip.

They should also tarmac the road to Dadaab too.

YEap thats what we want. i like this trategy, its called “plug-in” where you build transport means(roads and railways) and private development just sprouts along the lines. This opens up remote areas. A great deal it is!!
