Jubilee Dev - All roads in Turkana upto S.Sudan border under construction including Eldoret Leseru-Kitale-Amosing

Finally this missing highway to the north is under construction. It starts with rehabilitation and maintenance of existing tarmac road from Eldoret Leseru junction to West Pokot. Reconstruction of the road to bitumen standards from West Pokot to Lokichar to Amosing. Lastly from Lokichar to the border with S.Sudan.

I like this but still a pipeline is better

What does this have to do with the pipeline??? This road is meant to not only finally link Turkana to the rest of the country by good Tarmac road like Moyale but also the region. That is why it goes all the way to the border with South Sudan. Its part of the Kitale-Lodwar-Juba highway. Linking S.Sudan to Kenya. The oil region Lokichar is just a third of the route.

That said the pipeline is still on schedule. Tullow/Africa Oil/Total (its financier) picked a usa company to design its FEED project which will take 6-9 months. However the final decision will be made after exploration is complete so that they can decide if it will be a 14" diameter pipeline for $1.1 billion or 24" diameter pipeline for $2.2 billion. For that to happen the 70,000 barrels of crude oil in Tullow temporary metal tanks needs to be emptied so that they can continue drilling, exploration and conduct well tests which means more crude oil is pumped out. So far they have no where else to store it. That’s how the early program started. Truck 2000 barrels daily from Lokichar to the empty oil tankers at the former Changamwe retired refinery. Continue until all 70000 barrels are transferred. Sell it to test the market demand for the waxy Turkana oil. Pay the costs, the balance helps to partly pay for these roads construction. Treasury isn’t getting anything.

when will the Lodwar-Isiolo-Lamu highway be done?

I had to google search but surprise, surprise my post here was the 1st hit on the same.

Jubilee Dev - Finally Contract signing of Loichangamatak-Lodwar-Nadapal/Nakodok International Rd - News & Politics - Kenya Talk

It will take 3 years to completion as it was split into 3 sections and each section was given to different contractors to get it done simultaneously. By 2021 Lodwar to Kitale and Lodwar to Isiolo will be just a few hours.
