Chinese investor Zeyun Yang will construct eight 34-storey blocks, each housing 1,632 families, at Ngara estate just outside the Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
Mr Yang through his firm Erdemann Property said Rier Estate Housing Development will include a shopping complex with 60 outlets, enabling residents to access essential purchases within the mixed-use facility.
The project, standing on a 2.302 hectares, will see 537 units of three bedrooms, 1,088 two bedrooms and seven one-bedroomed houses set up. According to regulatory filings, Erdemann plans to set aside 875 parking slots for tenants as well as adequate space for children playgrounds.

To fast-track the development, the firm has requested for permission to upgrade Jadongo Road to improve access to the property. The Environment Impact Assessment report sent to the National Environment Management Authority recommended implementation saying it will create jobs as well as a skills transfer platform for local workers.

“The proposed project will contribute to significant positive impacts in the area during its construction and operation phases.

Creation of employment opportunities, optimal use of land, incorporation of collective waste management practices, increase in revenue to the proponent, national and the county governments among others,” it said. Erdemann, which entered Kenya in 2003, has built about 2,000 housing units and warehouses within Nairobi and Mombasa. They include Mavokos Great Wall Gardens and Greatwall Apartments One (528 units of two-bedroom flats). Greatwall Apartments Two (384 units of three-bedroom apartments), Seefar Apartments that houses the 264 units of two-bedroom units and 24 units of three-bedroomed apartments in Mavoko.

As it is jam ya ngara ni mbaya and you want to add 40k people hapo! Ambia mchina ajenge kajiado

And the corrupt politicians and their families will grab all.
@mikel , problem is Kenyans love buying cars and use as status symbols. If you live around the proximitirs of the CBD bikes should be your mode of transport. @spear hii serikali yenu imeshindwa solving the transport system in the city , 8years almost gone. Tramps or bike lanes would be good for people living close to the city .

solution ni public transport. This will help address urban sprawl. Wenye magari wakaendeshee kajiado.

halafu hizi zote zishanunuliwa na brokers who will charge the genuine tenants more than they should. Fuck Kenya

All 10 informal slums in Nairobi will be built up and replaced with tall prefab high rise blocks. NHC will be landlord, all units will be taken up by the same slum tenants who live there currently. UN Habitat will register all current tenants biometric and allocate them units that aren’t transferable or sub let to others. They will pay subsidized rent rates of 1000 a month just enough for NHC to maintain them. Water will be free but power will be by prepaid meter. They opted for tall high rise buildings of 10-15 storeys to be able to free up a lot of free spaces below for plants and playgrounds. Schools, shops centres, food courts, hospitals and police stations will be incorporated to make it a complete city.

ile ghost town ya Angola, si ni kama hii.

If investors are not careful I fores

Actually I foresee a situation similar to Johannesburg; people will soon forcefully occupy those houses if they feel shortchanged…lets just hope that our already stretched Infrastructure will be able to handle +50k people in such a small area…i still insist such projects should be undertaken away from the city…we should be looking at decongesting the city

bike lanes would be good for people living close to the city .

I always wonder why most towns in Kenya don`t have them. I would glady ride
a bicycle to town and back any day.

National Housing is not what it used to be…it’s currently riddled with theft and corruption.
All modern building should now be built also as per health and safety best practices such as each apartment to have fire detectors with automated sprinklers…

Sijaona anywhere in the article information about start and completion date.

IMO, land near the CBD is currently underutilized. Just look at those old estates like Old and New Ngara, Muthurwa, Starehe, Ziwani, Shauri Moyo, Kaloleni and Makongeni, they can be really transformed with such projects. Shida tu ni the huge financial costs of transforming them.

County Houses ijn Nairobi and other major cities and town should follow suit. If implemented all over the city, it will end up lowering rent and creating space for infrastructure.
Other countries are doing it.

Patch them with these, and Nairobi becomes spacious again.

Alafu as usual lift ziaribike after 1yr…hizo stairs watu watatembea kweli. Ama as expected maji ipotee…anyway lower your expectations gents…the amount of corruption you are going to witness here sio mchezo

We have to be optimistic. We can’t just seat back and complain.

I don’t get it,corruption in terms of what? isn’t this a private project?

The rooms will be filled with Nigerian migrants.
Si Kamwana decided Kenya belongs to everyone.
Big 4 my arse.

Hizi stima zinashinda mpaka Birrionares wataweza kweli? They should setup a solar power station but what do I know!

Utacheki jamaa akizusha amepewa 1 br na ana watoi ka 7 in tow.
