Jerry Springer, the former Cincinnati mayor and longtime TV host whose tabloid talk show was known for outrageous arguments, thrown chairs and physical confrontations between sparring couples and homewreckers, has died, Bradley Singer, his agent, said Thursday. Springer was 79.
Springer once told CNN that he did not mind being referred to as the “grandfather of trash TV,” saying in 2010, as “The Jerry Springer Show” celebrated its 20th anniversary on the air: “It’s probably accurate. I don’t know what the award for that is, but I think it is true that we were probably one of the first shows to present some of the outrageousness we have.”
May he rest in P. King of gutter TV. Some of the best TV I have ever watched. Along with the UK version - the Jeremy Kyle Show which ended when a man took his own life…after trying to convince his wife that he had not cheated on her but ‘failed’ the lie detector test…
I remember him when he hosted the 2000 miss world pageant where our own Yolanda Masinde was in the top 10 finalists.
She however messed up her chances of advancing further during the one on one interview with Jerry Springer.
Yolanda masinde, I had a serious crush on that woman…but she messed up when asked who her role model was…I think she either said Mariah Carey or Madonna
She said Mariah Carey…and by them Mariah was embroiled in some major scandal.
Should have said, Mandela, Mother Teresa or even Princess Diana. Those were the most loved celebrities then.
But anyway she didn’t have a chance against the eventual winner who was the one and only …Priyanka Chopra (Miss India)
