Isaiah 13:16 The Lord says “Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives ravished (raped)” Here Yahweh is talking about Babylon and the extreme violence that will be visited on them, which begs the question of who created Babylonians, Palestinians, Amalekites and other condemned tribes in the bible.
Very good question. In many places in the old testament you read about the Israelite slaughtering their adversaries men, women, children and livestock! And this is written as a good thing to support God’s favour! In fact the modern day Jihadis learnt their craft from the bible - anyone who does not do as we do is a kaffir and deserves to die.
aaah,god is good.Kill the infidels,kill 'em all!!!
Using God’s name has proven a very effective method of sanitising “the chosen people” from war crimes. What is clear to me, though, is the words written in the Bible are the words of men rather than God. Why would God sanction genocide, ethnic cleansing and mass extinction I mean this is just madness.
But the same men were inspired by God right?
And the rest of us we are inspired by Satan ama?
Did you write the Bible?
Good point, I didn’t. But for the sake of clarity, let us first agree what it means to “be inspired by God”. Does it mean the writer:
A) Wrote what God told him to write?
B) Wrote what he thought God wanted to say?
C) Wrote what he thought God would agree with?
Christians hallucinate and argue that they were inspired by God like John did in Revelations. After all, no evidence exists that there was such inspiration.
Exactly, how do you prove a writer was inspired by God? You literally have to take their word for it. I can also write a book today and say I was inspired by God, how will it be disproven even if I am lying?
Atheists munanibamba sana…ata kama Europeans hawangekuja Africans were religious and all monotheisic whats your excuse:D:Dati mungu hayuko Just meffi bonobos practising white people staff
I would go with A. Wrote what God told him to write. I aint a religious person so I am saying what I was told by my preacher when I used to go to church
this is something many Africans forget.
tulkua religious ata before modern/white religion ikuje.
tulkua na possessed na spirits tunaongea in tounges and what not. (there are conspiracies that they stole most of their religious teachings and ways kutoka sisi)
but the common denominator in all religions is that there is good and evil and there is a HIGHER/GREATER being compared to ourselves. and that BEING resides or was seen coming from above. (an Alein, UFO, a plane…)
maybe this is how most religious books were written
So then in the case of Isaiah 13:16 do you believe God said infants should be slaughtered and women raped?
Remember all that definition you just derive from the bible whileas there are other many books that define A supreme being.
Your own tradition for example
Morally that is very wrong. Why should you slaughter an innocent infant? Why should you rape a defenseless woman? I dont agree to it nut a Theologist will tell you thats a metaphor.
If that is a metaphor, then what is its true meaning?
The bible is a collection of Jewish oral literature and mythology but few people are able to understand it that way.
I have no idea. aint religious anymore
