Siku hizi unapata most people are looking for instant gratification e.g. Likes, Followers etc. Nimeona watu wakicelebrate hitting 1 Million followers kule twitter and making it look like a big achievement
Ukienda instagram ni ku doble tap na ma filters and women literally begging you to follow them, fake lifestyle and edited photos
Ukikuja ktalk ni chokosh war za kina PHARMACY, ama psychopaths like TrumanCapote posting weird stuff, ukijaribu kupumua kidogo unapata Azor Ahai anakumabia utafute 100 Million ndio ufunge ndoa ama upate watoi
Current generation have no social skills, they can’t even hold a conversation and articulate themselves in a manner that can be understood, has social media turned us into zoombies?
Honestly I miss the good old days, where you would travel to visit your aunt, ama you would meet your friends na mucheze treck, futa, kukimbia, bano. Siku hizi watoi ni kucheza FIFA na kujunk with their parents on the couch
Social media is the greatest large scale psychological experiment ever conducted on human beings, who’s implications we are only starting to see. In between algorithms deciding what you see and manipulating people to get very addicted and those in power using it to shape opinions of the masses.
Imagine a whole generation of humans raised on social media. With Meta’s ambition being to even physically disengage people from the real world.
It will either be very amazing or very catastrophic
It is a big achievement. Inaitwa attention economy and it can translate directly to money in your bank account if you are intelligent enough. Ukiona watu doing what they do, there is almost always a financial incentive. Hata ule Murira anatingisha matako TikTok niliskia ameanza mjengo so the motive is financial. Attention = Money.
99% of social media users like you and me use it for entertainment. The other 1% use it for business. Unafikiria Kibe angesurvive without his original facebook followers that he used to grow his youtube channel? That’s the only thing saving him from kuosha tunyanye huko yues.
TikTok live ndio imeharibika, sikuhizi all ladies Hadi wamathee twerking and begging for gifts. Kwanza usiku you’ll find over 30 lives consecutively bitches twerking or exposing themselves for likes followers and gifts
Mpaka madem wa gulf huwa wanabonga tu story za kumangana. I browsed through tiktok at night and realized so many Kenyans are depraved with filthy minds.
Ni illusion. Of course 99% of people post the good and not the bad so tayari it’s an illusion of what happens in reality. Not to mention some of those influencers are broke af. I’ve noticed they don’t know the difference between what entertains us (i.e. what Instagram/Twitter wants ndio tubaki platform) and what’s best for them. Unapata fitness trainer anaunda funny/thirsty video inabenefit Zuckerberg ju we’ll spend more time on the app but haisaidii trainer kupata paying clients who will pay for his/her training. Ndio maana unaona bado kuuza kuma is the way to go. Hizo biz hazina customers
I started desocializing 5 years ago. Am not in Fakebook, twitter na tick tock am not signing in. Niko Tu hapa kijiji. Hapa juu uko anonymous you don’t have to fake it to prove to people that you have made it. Hapa ndio Ile place watu wako real.
He who controls the narrative controls the people. The narrative was typically ran on TV until social media came and took over by Meta and other companies. The narrative was under control until TikTok came in. Now the US government no longer controls the narrative because TikTok is the main app for social media consumption. On Meta and Google you cant away with anti gays stuff. You are silenced. TikTok you can pretty much say anything you want. Before TikTok, I used to think the US was a darling. After TikTok, so much rot has been revealed in that country I pretty much feel am in a better situation as a Kenyan than Americans. So the US wants to ban TikTok coz they know they risk getting exposed for who they are
Social media is both good and bad. You have only focused on the bad side of it. Even you, this Kenyatalk site is social site where we engage with each other. The big question that you/we need to ask is, are we having positive engagements or negative engagements?
