It cant do anything against a combined Nato if worst came to worst. But it is a significant military power. The united states alone has a airforce bigger that all other Nato members and russia combined.

i understand the S-400 air defence system can detect and shoot anything in the air as small as a tennis ball

Military might is dependent on economy. otherwise you cant fight without good money. Soviet Union survived in WWI partly because of American aid. It’s very difficult to defeat a richer enemy.

What do you mean, it has alot of natural resources and supplies natural gas to Europe. Economically, it’s still powerful.
