If you have idle land, go to bidco and get a contract to plant bamboo which you will sell to them as firewood fuel after 5 years. Guaranteed market.
A two acre plot should carry about 500 seedlings which when mature, each can give you up to 40kg of dry weight which you will then sell to bidco at ksh 25 per kg.
This earns you a cool 500k every year. The only cost is the initial cost of seedlings, planting and harvesting labour.
Labour should be less than 10k per year so after planting you are assured of 490k as pure profit per year for as long as the contract is valid.

tell me more about this. Any link? Contacts? Am interested.

More than once I’ve read various articles than suggest the next billionaires (ashana na ware abao tayari tuko Ktalk) in Africa will be made through agriculture. Sustained, Intensive, mechanised and technologically savvy agriculture. What you choose to grow is irrelevant…everything sells, as long as you plant it well and at the right time. And you’ve got to take time to check into school kidogo ujifunze ma agribusiness kiasi. Invest in it, it’ll pay you back.

Kuna hawa watu wanaitwa Africa plantation capital where you invest in one acre bamboo farm in kilifi. Have been sceptical of them seeing them kwa malls everywhere, sounds to me like the good old MLMs

andikia naivas barua uwaambie unataka kuroll out in-store liquor stalls in some of their branches… Thank me later…
