Inspiration from Alibaba's founder Jack Ma

Yesterday, I listened to Jack Ma, Richest Chinese and founder of Alibaba- World’s largest e-commerce plat form, address at The University of Nairobi. This man is worth Kes 43 trillion. Kenya’s annual budget, including loans and all, is about 2 tr (he can run the country for about 20 years single handedly).

Below are highlights of his speech that I have archived in my soul. And I believe they will resonate well with you.

  1. If you want to be a big company, solve big problems. If are content in being small, solve small ones.

  2. Hire better and smarter people. Hire people who have the potential to be your boss in five years time. Don’t hire people who want to be your servants.

  3. Productivity is directly proportional to relationships created. Treat all your stakeholders right, especially your clients and employees.

  4. When you see people complaining, that is where opportunities are found.

5.If you have hopes, dreams and a plan, you can make it without money.

6.Change will not come if we await for some other time.

  1. To reach the top , listen to others and learn, learn, learn and never stop learning.

  2. Jealousy and hatred is of cowards and lazy people. To be great, you befriend those who are doing well, especially those doing better than you.

  3. Dare to be different.

10.Hire more women; they care so well for others and are largely loyal.

  1. "When you read too many successful stories you think you will be successful. Read too stories of failure, they teach you something. "

Now you know.

5.If you have hopes, dreams and a plan, you can make it without money.–Did he elaborate this? please explain to me

hii hapa hii…muhimu sana!

nothing new the chink said.

Nasa yeye

Me thinks making it BIG in life is a blend of sooo many things… Luck included and favor from God… Then all these things he’s talking about…

There are people out there who are super smart, work super hard and smart lakini bado wana hangaika…

Or they are successful but have terminal diseases…

Or they don’t get love from their families…

So i think success is relative…

And am sure he got paid to come and give the talk…

Yani sisi peasants tuna shida sana…

utamuona akiuza shamba kama Maya!

Great summery, and inspiring. Nothing is limited that can be conceived by human mind.

if you have hopes and dreams u will make it in life, a plan of how you will get there, your will will drive you. money is a by-product of all the above. whats hard to understand from the stmt?

No. 10 hiko on point kabisa.

Same old shit just a different day

i was told a story by a friend a few years years ago. Once upon a time there was a king who who had a beautiful daughter. And when the daughter came of age to be married, the king set a condition on all suitors, that he will give his daughter to a suitor who would date swim and manage to cross a river which had crocodiles. Well, only a fool would have dared swim in those waters.
So every week some strong guys would claim the will swim across, but once they would get there they would fear. Many days passed and it seemed the king’s daughter would never get married.
So one day as people gathered near the river to see whether there would be anyone who dare and meet his death, they were suprised to see a young weak man in the river swimming across with all his strength to save his life.
And he managed to get to the other end, villagers were astonished and went to celebrate with him. But when he was asked to say something, all he said was he would like to know who pushed him into the river:D That how life pushes us into our destiny. Hio ingine ni porojo

Hahaha… Not funny
When thrown in such a river

sijui kama socialites Wa Nairobi wameshatafuta namba yake. Nice summary points you’ve got there.

Huyu Jack Maina si anasumbua watu akili.
But I guess his success is mainly due to his huge Chinese market. The likes of Jumia can’t even hope to get a fraction of the vast market in need of his services.
