Cold rolling of metal is common in Gikosh and Kariobangi. Casting ndiyo tricky because of cost of electricity.

I follow such clip. Hao wasee hawatupangi anything. Wana piga repair and manufacture about everything bana. Saw them fabricating a luxury bus from a frame. Noma sana. Wish we had such minds here. Hapa juakali ni kuunda jiko za nyama choma na sanduku za mabati za boarding school…na karai za mandazi

I once mentioned how making our own engines would help us as a country to be self reliant and progress into a 1st world, but that argument morphed into a Zakayo Gachagua debate, with some folks really bitter about the latter being impeached.

Steel suitcases is a profitable venture. Hundreds of thousands of boarding school students purchase that product yearly. People have become extremely wealthy thanks to that business.

But some muratina addicts think a white collar job is the only path to success

And you think making engines is as easy as making ugali like you do in Homa Bay?

That requires serious R&D plus huge investment. Stick to fighting about Gachagua and Ruto for now since that is your weight class.

True. Our engineers need to up their game. Shida yao wengi wanangojea tu contract za serikali ama wapate client wawafanyie project halafu story inaisha hivyo. They are never creative

We would really be ahead if we could be making generic vehicle spare parts for Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi cars. Or making tyres, electric accessories etc

I’ll be the devil’s advocate here

You see the guys who go to engineering school ni wasee mostly from humble beginnings and had to sweat it mbaya to even finish school. Kisha in our unis the workshops are I’ll equipped for practical work

Wakitoka kitambo wamalizane na internships and get certified it’s already late 20s. Sahizo family na jamii nzima is looking at you like your peers are buying jalopies na ww nini unado. Even if you had some venture you were pursuing inabidi you fold and kneel for muhindi pale indaa. Thereafter ni Bibi watoto na rat race. No time or resources for experiments na fabrications kama za India

This needs deliberate government support. Sadly our gava seems to believe that the best we can do is fabricate wheelbarrow na jembes. Sahizo unaskia office of the DP purchased furniture worth 900 millions banae u just shake your head in disbelief…Hakuna mahali you can go and learn the basics anywhere in the Republic. Ndio ujue we are a true shithole

It’s cheaper to manufacture electronics in neighbouring Uganda than here in Kenya, forget Energy costs, and everything you were taught in school, everyone in the supply chain anakukula be it County officials, National Govt, your employees pia watakukulia mbaya so it doesn’t make any sense to risk business here, just buy in china, come sell at a small margin and have a goodnight sleep.

Most Luxury buses on Kenyan roads are fabricated at Master fabricators hapo industrial area. Kenya shida tuko nayo is our electrical grid is miniature and expensive.
