Confessions of an Economic Hitman gives a pointer as to how countries are manipulated under the guise of foreign aid. Trade and removal of subsidies and other non-tariff barriers on all products would actually achieve far more than what they call Foreign aid. Indeed, for Africa, net capital inflows cannot be compared to what goes out in the form of debt repayments and profit taking by corporations like Diaggeo (Wenye Tusker), Vodafone (wenye Safari con) etc
Foreign aid is a myth.

Egypt, Nigeria, Tanzania biggest African recipients in that order. I can understand Egypt and Nigerian being given large amounts to fight terrorism and extremism. But why Tanzania?
