From electronics to clothing, medicines to food stuffs, everything has been compromised.
China is both a blessing and and curse to the African continent. While China still makes genuine and high quality goods such as goods from World famous Brands like Huawei and HiKVision the vast majority of products that land in Africa from China are counterfeits.
Every major Japanese or European brand has two or more fakes from China. From motorcycles to power tools.
But frankly without Chinese goods in Africa tungekuwa nyuma sana. In the 1980s, 90s pikipiki zilikuwa ni Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, same with small generators, water pumps. Then China man came and flooded Africa with bikes costing USD 750-900.
What Africa needs now is last mile for Electricity and Internet
Thank you for this very important topic. The worse of all is counterfeit medication. About 100,000 deaths a year in Africa are linked to the counterfeit drug trade. Counterfeit Chinese and Indian drugs invade Africa. The most significant seizures are made in Nigeria, Benin, Kenya and Togo, but it is the drugs’ countries of origin that is most startling: 97% of fraudulent pharmaceutical products are shipped from China or India, and Africa seems to be particularly under attack. This is a genocide
I don’t believe in this bullshit of fake stuff when it comes to technology. Most components are outsourced and the same components available to Sony and Toshiba for example are only a phone call or email away for SQNY and Synix albeit with different branding and packaging.
