Why do forwarding companies I.e kentex, savostore,rolling cargo charge such extorbitant and high fees for importation? The last time I checked it was $15 per KG or volumetric shipping weight charge whichever is higher. Any importers here? Which companies do you use and how much are you charged?

That’s the prices for our region. People in India and Asia, have lower rates because of competition and volume movement . I saw in the gulf these people sending packages for a little as 300kes per kg, and that’s a door to door service .
We just have very high rates , Africa in general . However Ethiopians enjoyed almost the same rates as the ones mentioned above .

I pay only 800 KSH per KG but I only import from UK. I assume your referring to USA which I think is $15 USD. You can get everything in UK as well plus I know how to get my money back in case anything goes wrong.

Mystique Kenya. Just search them on Facebook. They don’t advertise there cargo business but I’ve bought from them before and they offer it to there existing customers or through referrals only. I’ve bought all sorts and they’ve never let me down and they always communicate with you unlike these other cargo companies who have negative reviews and never reply to you when things go wrong or there is delays.

No that’s not what I meant. They will serve you if you ask them. I’m just saying they don’t actively advertise or search for customers.

Mysomethingrandom have two membership charges for regular is ksh.1500, hassles free ksh.10000 per year you import freely for one year. For regular member charges ksh.750 per pound for smaller items for USA,bigger items volumetric measurements Will be applied
UK charges ksh.850 per kg, then hazartmart items like phones charges ksh.2500 it takes two months delivery. I ordered supplement and phone through them,when I receive it I will update it,for sme go for hassles free membership 10k per year and ship free. For hazardous items first contact them first, though their response is slow or visit them at Karen.

It’s been requested countless times and so we have finally listened and we will now invoice on a “tenths” unit of Kg from UK or Lb from USA unlike previously rounding up.

1 unit of weight is still our weekly minimum so even if your consignment weighs only 100 grams or 1 ounce you will be rounded up to 1 whole unit.

However, anything over will be weighted to the nearest Decimal. All packages or items received in the same shipment are weighed together and we will no longer consolidate packages week to week as now the invoiced weight will be an exact charge of goods received.

With this said, our rates have adjusted slightly as have our clearance charges (from USA for 5lbs and over prices are the same!)

Before purchasing any dangerous goods you must get preauthorization as bringing in such items have additional documentation needed correlating to the specific MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) on your particular item as well as specialized packing and additional clearance charges.
