Importing Alcohol

Hi all,

First post! I was wondering if anybody has experience with importing alcohol to Kenya? I am looking at the idea of importing a local beer from Europe for wholesale in the Kenyan market. My research so far has led me to believe that it will not financially be worthwhile unless I am importing on a very large scale. The systems in place do not seem serviceable for a startup operation.

Brown or green bottle?

Brown.

Also canned if it is easier.

right on point…you should be able to bring in at least 2 20ft container every month for it to be a viable venture!

You would need not less than 100 million for advertising .Activations are very expensive and you would need to do so many of them .Not a worthwhile venture unless you are a billionaire .

On volumes yeah… tried shipping in some vodkas from St. Petersburg during klost days nikachomeka…gave out free samples alafu ikabidi nikue napeana most kwa house parties at minimal profit. Pushing a new product in the market ni noma. But all the best

I forgot to mention that I am from Ireland, so kidogo swahili

Tafuta cheap whiskey kama ile inaitwa BEST or wine. Fobe utachoma

Kenyans are very rigid when it comes to consumption patterns.

I think that first you should explore the market. I certainly think that there are many alcohol importers in Kenya. So try to figure out what kind of alcohol could have demand on local market. Is it bear, wine or maybe some stronger drinks. Forum members will only give you their personal preferences
