I Miss Reading Print Magazines

Do you guys still read print magazines?

Lifetimes ago my dad had subscriptions to lots of magazines: The Weekly Review, Drum, Parents, Reader’s Digest, True Love, New African etc. There were some other free ones like Awake and The Watchtower. His subscriptions changed over the years as some went out of circulation and new others published. I fukcing loved reading those magazines

I remember especially loving Drum and Reader’s Digest magazines. On my own I used to buy XXL but it slowly became harder to find and as I grew older I recognized fewer and fewer faces in the magazine. RD ocassinally when I spotted it on a shelf somewhere. (Btw Nakumatt still had those two in shelves until a year or two before its death)

In my small town, back then PDS, Nation Media, and The Standard had offices/drop points next to each other. You could walk in and leave with the all the daily newspapers and all kinds of monthly magazines from The Source to Nyota ya Magharibi --some of which you needed to have previously ordered. Now almost everything worth reading is online-only behind a subscription.

I miss the plasticky smell of new magazines.

Umenikumbusha tukiwa high school, kulikuwa na magazine inaitwa “seen”. Kulikuwa na moja doing rounds usiku, wasee walikuwa wanayonga nayo bishop vinoma

Kitu funny ni Seen iliuzwa openly kwa streets to anyone… I wonder what happened to the publisher.
