I blame the media

From all the reports we heard over the past few weeks I was expecting closely contested polls. The reality has however been a disappointing display of “more of the same”. The voting patterns in both areas has been nothing special and the only noteworthy points have been the glaring attempts to bribe voters. The media has given these politicians too much time to whip people into a frenzy and make us think we’re about to witness a revolution as the common man does the unthinkable and stands up for something different in the face of an irresistible force. We still remain a people who would rather suffer under the known rather than risk succeeding with the unknown.

Meanwhile, KANU guys watching the results streaming in like…

We elect thugs into office and when they act in thuggish ways in front of the media for all to see we all want to act surprised

But why should’t we be surprised. I expected the government would have easier ways to steal apart from sending baba yao to blatantly dish out money.
P.S. Not every vote cast puts someone in office. Some of our votes go to the candidates who lose so we shouldn’t be blamed for the thuggishness of the winners. Kapish?

We vote for parties not individuals…even in those byelections it was CORD vs Jubilee and JAP vs Kanu…the moral character of the individual matters little

This happens all over the world, even in the US it is Republicans against Democrats.
