Attending church is good for spiritual growth, however you must be wise with your tithes and offering. I believe direct charitable works are better. Most of these fly by night pastors will use guilt and shaming tactics to make you give them money but unafaa kukaa ngumu. Where it says “10%” in the Bible was actually meant for Levitical priests at an entirely different time in history. Most of them will never give you context. Personally I’m not moved no matter how much they screech and holler, I know the scriptures well, so siwezi toa more than a minimal amount.

That’s true. I say that jokingly, but not really.

Should prostitutes and thieves tithe?

When you say “should,” do you mean is it mandatory for them to tithe? The answer to that is there is no scripture in the New Testament which decrees tithing. Paul came to clarify all these doctrinal matters and he is/was God’s mouthpiece to the Gentiles. There is no set percentage of offering or tithe like some of these unscrupulous “pastors” aka thieves would have you believe. What is not optional is feeding the hungry and helping the poor. James 1:27 says, religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction (and to keep yourself undefiled from the world).

Is the New Testament the “Supreme Law”?
