How Profitable is the Auto spare Parts Business?

Hello fellas, I’m in an industry that’s about to be decimated by emerging technologies…I’m facing a dystopian future where I’m out of work and my skills are useless. While this tragedy is fairly far off, I’m now forced to curved a new career trajectory. What if I take an online automotive engineering course and then start a spare parts shop. Word has it that the industry has great margins…?

The best people to ask would be high ranking staff employed in the industry who have nothing to loose by giving you insists. If someone is ranning a profitable business that they have toiled tirelessly to build, the last thing they want is you bringing them unecessary competition.
I aslo guess that mechanics might be of help on which spares huhitajika more frequently ndio ujue what stock to start with.

Get your feet wet by risking a small amount in a small shop. Call it tuition. Run the side hustle for two years and learn the ropes. Then invest bigly later with all the experience and connections. The biggest mistake most people make is starting big with zero hands-on experience. Then they lose millions in the learning process. By the time they know enough, they have no money left to invest. That’s why you must start small and bootstrap.

It’s quite a lucrative venture regardless of how small you start. There’s a free port in Dubai where parts are sold from cut shops this are exclusively ex-japan parts with different quality grades.
On ex-japan parts you can scale good profit margins and requires little capital on the other hand you can source OEM parts this is much more capital intensive.
Best way to go is to specialize on specific parts so question is do you want to sell body parts such as nose cuts, doors, wings, suspension parts, engine and transmission parts, bearing and oil seals, service parts, automotive electrical components and so on?
Also do you want to sell Japan or European model autoparts.

Spare ziko na pesa but if you want to make a killing ,weka garage and be certified by gavament chief mechanical hapo utakula Kama ghasia repairing gavament vehicles

Your skills cannot be useless. You are the one who will be useless if you don’t restructure the application of your skills. Read a book titled, The Works is Flat by Thomas Friedman. This yahudi dude had foreseen the disruption you fear now. He advised Americans on how to adjust to the disruptions of offshoring American jobs to Asia due to internet connectivity.

On spares. Yes it’s lucrative, you don’t need to learn mechanics to sell bolts and nuts. I have a friend who opened a spares kiosk for his wife as he worked. The soares are labelled so once you buy and stock them on shelves clearly labelled you will be able to identify. The other things is that that business’ clients are specialists in the field, usually mechs or a driver advised by a mech on what to buy. You this learn on the job.
As a small timer you won’t be selling the complicated parts but the usual parts that wear off everyday: bolts, nuts, filters, seals, oils, grease, ; these ones cone in clearly labelled packages.

I would tell you not to bother with a online course. I wanted to take one eons ago but started repairing cars on my own, nothing beats hands on experience. I looked into the parts business, but under a different model. It would have worked but my contact was unreliable. My understanding is that it’s very lucrative. Dip your hands is all I will say. Don’t wait until you are laid off to try.
