They took those industries to China because China has a learned cheap workforce. The companies get huge profits which in turn they remit more taxes to the government and the fewer remaining workers in the original company in the US go home with a bigger paycheck

It could be more expensive but I wonder whether that factors in the logistical costs and risks?
During COVID many businesses around the world were impacted by halted supplies from China. I know of some that went to a complete standstill.
Also, it may be more expensive to hire a local workforce, but by having more jobs locally, more people have spending power meaning a larger market for goods and services
