coke pekee ndio bei iko same na hapa.
Bro, you forgot to factor in the cost of living in kenya compared to the US.
In kenya, with that almost 200k, you can live comfortably here. In th US, its another story. Rent for a one bedroom in cities like new york or san francisco will eat up almost the entire amount. Here you can get a nice n spacious 2 bedroom in a place like kilimani (high class area) for about 60k
Food and entertainment is much cheaper also. A high class restaurant (like fogo gaucho) you will pay USD 20. In the states, you will pay USD 120 up.
Things like car insurance etc are also much cheaper together with cost of maintaining a car
The thing is, for someone in the US to live a live you can live here with the 200k, they would need to earn like 4 or 5 times that
Average ya hapa ni birrionaires hapa.
A friend lives in the outskirts of Miami, Florida. Hes a long distance truck driver. he tells me he make about 4-5000 dollars monthly, and spends about $2000 on living expenses monthly.
Hapa Kenya a 3 bedroom apartment going at $700 (Kes 70,000) is already in leafy suburbs kwa birrionares!
Hama. Na uwache kusumbua
Akombe was IEBC anafanya nini uko?
Kenya 3 bedroom Thika you can get at KES 20,000.
But not in the leafy suburbs of Thika or Thììka as they pronounce it.
In leafy suburb in kenya, 80k can get you a nice 3 bedroom whereas in the US, a one bedroom in the capital will cost like 200k and thats not in the leafy suburb
True. Actually in Kenya, 60k to 100k will get you a house in a relatively good neighbourhood.
The Bay area especially.
This also applies to Seattle and to a very large extent, New York as well.
As someone who just landed here at @Purple land recently from vumbistan, I am in a position to offer informed advice. Yes you can survive on $2000 a month. Just, as @Simiyu22 said, find a roommate for a $600 apartment (Am a student) or even $1000, split it. Food should come close to $400 a month if you cook. Utilities, car payments and insurance etc should consume the other $500 or $600 and you still have something left over. All at annual wage of $24000. Na vile nurses (profession ile common na vumbistans huku) with masters degree here make $212,000 (Kshs 21.2 million est. for nurse anaesthetists). Do your maths and don’t forget North America accounted for over 50% of diaspora remittances worth Kshs 230 billion sent last year.
@Okwonkwo , ziko boss. It also varies state to state. Some towns and cities like Orrville, OH kuna ata $400.

True, ziko. But comparatively speaking, here with 50k, you could get an apartment in a high class area in the capital city. Uko, you wont
Yes, but the wages here in the states are also higher to factor that in. Hizi jobs za walmart ama amazon ni za watu hawajasoma saana huku (mostly african americans and white hillbillies), college students ama recent immigrants whose college papers from home countries aren’t recognized here so they start from ground up. Like I said, a nurse with a graduate degree earns Kshs 21.2 million while orthopedic surgeon earns Kshs 66M here in the states. Na hizo nimeweka a normal 8am to 5 pm shift. Some people work doubles in one or two more workplaces earning more
