hii kitu imenisumbua niaje, i ask even truck drivers wananiambia ati sijui inafunga exhaust ndio gari inaisha nguvu, bla bla. mwingine ati ni pressure ile iko kwa breaks hydraulic tank hua inatoka.
Well imekua kibarua kwangu since mr.google dosent recognize the word “Frenno”
and here is the correct definition
A Jake Brake modifies the timing on the exhaust valves so that, when braking is desired, the exhaust valves open right as the piston reaches the top of the compression stroke. The energy gathered in the compressed air is released, so the compression stroke actually provides braking power.

mimi kwanza nilionanga nikiwa kwa basi. kwa mteremko driver akiitumia then gari inaloose speed kiasi …alafu siku ya driving test na mimi nikaenda kujaribu, sema uyo karau kunitoa hapo mbio
Try driving an NPR downhill on 2nd gear and apply the engine brake/Jake breaks without using the brake pedal and you’ll realise how effective the jake brakes are… I used to descend a hill that was 5 km long using jake brakes only, my NPR used to move at a snails pace.
As far as we were told by the Isuzu Japan guys (I was amongst the team that test drove the new NQR Isuzus), Jake brakes are supposed to be used on steep declines so as not to make the brakes hot, matatu drivers misuse Jake brakes…
Many I’ve seen don’t know that in a traffic jam, they don’t need to use the accelerator or brake pedals, the clutch only will suffice, no wonder mats chapa quickly.
