It is the new world where a house girl will make you rush to your SACCO/circle…a friend of mine was sued last week after they dismissed their house help on medical grounds…this was after their house help lost her sanity She was admitted to Gilgil hospital (ward 6) they spent cash on her admission, they also drove to their premise with her mother (house helps mother) and packed all her belongings, they also looked for a replacement…they are now seeking justice on unlawful dismissal, underpayment , sexual harassment, and unpaid leave days.
here are other articles of guys who are experiencing the same.

hehe… wacheni ufala.
At one time I witnessed a house girl almost dying due to some growth in her brain. Her employers waited until she lost ability to hear, talk, or see and they werent fazed. She cant leave and go anywhere because she cant see a thing. Sasa ni wakalishane hapo kwa nyumba ingawa watu wako na pesa. A neighbour had to take over and do the necessary. she got her senses back. the tumor wasnt the spreading type. watu wengine ni watoto tu ata kama wamezaa.
I’m all for the rights of househelps, some are really mistreated by their employers. However, I also believe an employer has the right to hire and fire at will.
My aunt’s househelp suffers from glaucoma of the eyes. Consultation fees, tests and medication cost 6k/month which she will need for the rest of her life to avoid going blind. Who should incur those expenses? Is it fair to deduct 6k per month from a meagre salary of 10k? It’s the government’s job to provide free, universal health care. If this litigation trend continues employers will be hesitant to hire a househelp with disabilities or health problems, thereby denying a livelihood to the same people who face the worst job discrimination.
