To support the National Strategy for Clean Cooking Energy (2024–2034), the Government targets to have 80% of Tanzanians using clean energy—especially natural gas—by 2034.
Work will involve expanding gas pipelines to areas like Mbezi Beach, Temeke, and Mikocheni, and setting up infrastructure for household access.
In 2024/2025, TPDC also began constructing a pipeline to supply gas to Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) and connecting it to three business premises near Mlimani City.
This initiative not only promotes clean energy but also supports Tanzania’s long-term climate and health goals by reducing reliance on charcoal and wood fuel.
