Holding people's domains hostage after they let them expire and making them pay a fee to release it.

Is this something that could get you in legal trouble in Kenya?
Noticed that a Kenyan site with a decently sized audience has let their domain expire, i’m having evil thoughts lol

Why would you get in legal trouble? Once a domain expires and is up for sale, you can legally buy it and then sell it to the original owners if they still want it

Yeah but I’ve heard of people in the US getting sued for this, I don’t know how it works here

There is a timeframe for which an expired domain can still be legally owned by the previous owner, but in Kenya I haven’t seen anything of the sort.

once it is in the market no one can sue you for it , take it , it’s called cyber squatting , I have several clients who have lost their domains this way despite me warning them , pia KQ lost their domain like this , the shit heads !

It’s called grace period which is very expensive

You can register but they can sue for trademark infringement if the domain includes a trademarked name (eg safaricom) and you try to use it deceptively

Unlikely though.

Hakuna trademark infringement on a parked domain. You just want them to buy from you instead of registrar. Hapo ni biashara. They can fire their IT guy lakini they can’t touch you.

I once lost a domain hivyo and the price quoted to get it back was 5k dollars. It took eight years before they let it go. Bought it back ile iwe funzo for 6 dollars, but the business was long gone by then. People don’t want to know ati you are now at xyz.com. Bookmark ikiwapeleka to page that says this domain is for sale, kwisha maneno.

From expiry to actual delete, the point at which a third party can now buy it, is about 2 months. You can renew it at any point during this period at whatever price your registrar decides to quote you. The first 14 days after expiry the price is kawa

man eat man society

I use those expired domains to create powerful PBNs.Very effective in ranking content.

Domain squatting ni biz kama zile zingine but depending on the registrar and where he is domiciled it can be hard for the original owner to get it back. You can also register domains pre-emptively if you have some insider information of a popular company launching soon in your country or any country.

Does paying to blogs and other websites for ad spots with backlinks improve on Google rankings? Niko na website kadhaa za biashara nawezatumia hizo services.

Unless the name is a registered trademark

Heheee nikama kuenda ATM you withdraw from your account then ujipige ngeta

Blacklinks do work but make sure you check the spam score of the domain .
Buy the 5 usd Blacklinks from retarded Indians on Fiverr and you’ll be a marked man by Google

I plan on placing ads with backlinks on local top ranking websites such Nation, Standard and Tuko, Facebook (If I can avoid creating an account) and Google Ads and see the results within 2 months.
